Bitter Almond Oil is an aromatic essential oil extracted from the kernels of bitter almonds (Prunus amygdalus var. amara) through steam distillation. Unlike sweet almond oil, this oil is not used as a carrier oil, but rather for its strong, nutty-marzipan-like aroma that lends a rich, luxurious touch to fine perfumery, soap making, and flavoring (with restrictions).

Rich in benzaldehyde, Bitter Almond Oil has been traditionally used in aromatic blends, high-end fragrances, and natural flavorings in strictly controlled concentrations. It is valued for its warm, slightly sweet, almond-like scent and should always be used with caution due to the presence of naturally occurring benzaldehyde and trace hydrogen cyanide.
